We are proud to introduce Chonny, the Youth Engagement Coordinator at The Nambucca Youthie. A proud Kuku Yalanji and Torres Strait Islander woman, Chonny is passionate about empowering young people and strengthening community through connection, culture, and opportunity.

The Nambucca Youthie is a welcoming and inclusive youth centre dedicated to supporting young people to reach their full potential through strength-based, culturally rich programs and grassroots community connection. In her role, Chonny leads youth programs, builds strong partnerships with schools and community organisations, and creates safe, engaging spaces where young people can build confidence, develop life skills, and feel connected and supported.

At the heart of Chonny’s work is a strong belief in listening to young people and ensuring programs are shaped by their voices and the needs of the wider community. She is passionate about fostering cultural strength and pride while helping connect young people with opportunities, support services, and positive experiences that encourage growth and wellbeing.

Chonny has already made a positive impact within the community through her enthusiasm, leadership, and genuine commitment to supporting local young people. We are excited to see the continued opportunities, connections, and positive outcomes her work will bring to the Nambucca community.
